When Lord gave Moksha to Gajendra

Lord not only protects his devotees but also gives, Moksha or Eternal Life in His abode to His Devotees. Now it does not matter whether devotee is a human being, a divine being, an animal or bird also. God protects every creature of this universe if that being asks for Lord’s help. Here below is a story from Srimad Bhagvatam in which an Elephant was saved by the Lord when a crocodile attaked him when he went to have water in the river.
Once there was an elephant named Gajendra who used to live in a garden called Rtumata which was created by Varuna. This garden was situated in the beautiful mountains of Trikuta in ancient India. Gajendra ruled over all the other elephants in the herd. On a hot day, he proceeded with his herd to a lake to cool off in its fresh waters. Suddenly a crocodile living in the lake attacked Gajendra and caught him by the leg. Gajendra tried for a long time to escape from the crocodile's clutches. All his family, relatives and friends gathered around to help him, but in vain. The crocodile wouldn't simply let go. When they realised that ‘death’ has come close to Gajendra, they left him alone. He trumpeted in pain and helplessness until he was hoarse. As the struggle was seemingly endless and when the last drop of energy was also sapped, Gajendra called to Lord Vishnu to save him, holding a lotus up in the air as an offering.
Hearing his devotee's call and a prayer, Lord Vishnu rushed to the scene. As Gajendra sighted the Lord coming, he lifted a lotus with his trunk, seeing this lord was pleased and with his Sudharshana Chakra separated the crocodile's head from its body and Gajendra prostrated before the Lord. Vishnu informed Gajendra that he, in one of his previous births, was the celebrated King Indradyumna, a Lord Vishnu devotee, but due to his disrespect to the great Sage Agastya, he was cursed and had to undergo this life.
Because Indradyumna was a chosen one, Lord Vishnu had him born as Gajendra and made him realize that there is something called, "Moksha / Kaivalya" which is beyond Svarga and Urdhva Loka. Indradyumna could attain Moksha finally when he (as Gajendra) left all his pride and doubt and totally surrendered himself to Lord Vishnu.
The prayer made by Gajendra on this occasion became a famous hymn in praise of Lord Vishnu called the Gajendra Stuti.
शुक्लांबरधरं विष्णुं शशि वर्णं चतुर्भुजं ।
प्रसन्न वदनं ध्यायेत सर्व विघ्नोपशान्तये॥
So the story even though it is known as 'Gajendra Moksha', actually the moksha was given to the crocodile also. And crocodile got the 'rare privilege'(same as in the case of Ravana, Kamsa, etc.) of getting killed by the hands of Lord Vishnu and was given moksha before the Gajendra."
IBhagwat Gita, God assures his disciple Arjuna in many ways & asks him to take refuge in Him. Lord says that He shall emancipate him of sin in all ways, shall rescue him in his life always. Through Arjuna, God is giving a message to all people that they should be devoted to Him, as through devotion, they shall reach Him easily. Below are verses of Bhagwat Gita where God assures Arjuna through these verses. Firstly, it is written, as it is written in original Sanskrit in Bhagwat Gita & below that is English translation of that verse.

'Api chet su-duracharo
bhajate maam ananya-bhak
sadhurev sa mantavya
samyag vyvasito hi sah' ( Gita: Chapter IX verse 30 )

'Even if the vilest sinner worships Me with full devotion, he should be considered a noble soul or saint; as he has taken the right step by worshipping me.'

Through above verse 30, God is telling Arjuna that even if the most sinful of person worships Him with full devotion, then He considers him to be a saint only as he has rightly resolved in his life. So many times we too think that we have done many sins in life & how God shall accept us, but here God makes very clear that once a person become devoted to Him, He does not considers that person a sinner, rather God considers that person to be a Saint as he has taken the right decision in his life to become devoted to God. Let's all be devotees of God.

'kshipram bhavti dharmatma
shasvac-chantim nigachati
kauntey pratijanihi
na me bhaktah pranashyati' ( Gita: Chapter IX verse 31 )

'He speedily becomes virtuous and secures lasting peace. O son of Kunti, know it for certain that My devotee never falls.'

Through above verse 31, God is telling Arjuna that such a sinful person after becoming His devotee becomes a person of good virtues and always remain in peace & such a peace is not temporary but is ever lasting. God is assuring the son of Kunti ( another name of Arjuna, his disciple) that his devotee never falls again in life as He always protect him. So let's all worship the God always so that He can protect us always.

'man-mna bhav mad-bhakto

madhyaji maam namaskuru
maam-evaishyasi yuktvaivam
atmanam mat-parayanah' ( Gita: Chapter IX verse 34 )

'Fix your mind on Me, be devoted to me, worship Me & offer obeisance's to Me. In this way, linking to Me, you shall surely come to Me.'

Through above verse 34, God is asking Arjuna to fix his mind on God as after worshipping Him & paying obeisance's to God, he shall automatically come to Him. We should also follow the same path & let's become devoted to him by praying Him daily. God is very clear that once a person comes in God's refuge, then all his problems are solved & God becomes his protector in this life & life beyond.

Those Who Go To Heaven Come Back To This Earth

If a person goes to a country on "Temporary Visa" then that person can stay for a certain limited period only into that country. After the expiry of the visa that person has to return back, otherwise that person is deported back & the stay of that person in that country is considered illegal.

As per the hindu religion, when a person does the good & bad karmas in life then as a result, that person goes to heaven (heavenly planet of Indra) or hell to enjoy the fruits of those karmas over there. But the period of stay in this heaven or hell is determined by the quantity & quality of good & bad karmas done in one's life. After enjoying the good or bad results of the karmas in the heaven or hell, one has to return back to this earth to take birth again. On this earth a person again does good & bad karmas in life & again goes to heaven or hell to enjoy the fruits of those karmas & again returns back to this earth after enjoying those good & bad fruits over there. In this way this perpetual cycle of birth & death goes on for that person. It is very clear that there is no permanent stay in the heaven & it's temporary only. One can live over there just for the time which is determined by his good karmas done on this earth.

The above said perpetual cycle of birth & death goes on for a normal person who has not understood & have faith in God. As per Bhagwat Gita beyond this heaven is the abode of God where life is permanent. Once a person gets permission to live in that Godly abode then that person need not come back to this earth to suffer pain & sorrow in life i.e. one does not have to take rebirth again on this earth. Once God allows a person to stay in His abode then that person is relieved of the cycle of birth & death. That person living in God's abode achieves immortality & permanent bliss. Below are few verses of Bhagwat Gita which explain that only.

"trai-vidya mam soma-pah puta-papa
yajnair istva svar-gatim prarthayante
te punyam asadya surendra-lokam
asnanti divyan divi deva-bhogan" (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Nine verse 20)

"Lord Sri Krishna said: Those who study the Vedas and drink the soma juice, seeking the heavenly planets, worship Me indirectly. Purified of sinful reactions, they take birth on the pious, heavenly planet of Indra, where they enjoy godly delights."

"te tam bhuktva svarga-lokam visalam
ksine punye martya-lokam vishanti
evam trayi-dharmam anuprapanna
gatagatam kama-kama labhante" (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Nine verse 21)

"Lord Sri Krishna said: When they have thus enjoyed vast heavenly sense pleasures and the results of their pious activities are exhausted, they return to this mortal planet (earth) again. Thus those who seek sense enjoyments by adhering to the principles of the three Vedas achieve only repeated birth and death."

"yanti deva-vrata devan
pitrn yanti pitr-vratah
bhutani yanti bhutejya
yanti mad-yajino ’pi mam" (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Nine verse 25)

"Lord Sri Krishna said: Those who worship the demigods will take birth among the demigods; those who worship the ancestors go to the ancestors; those who worship ghosts and spirits will take birth among such beings; and those who worship Me (Lord Sri Krishna) will live with Me."

"yat karosi yad asnasi
yaj juhosi dadasi yat
yat tapasyasi kaunteya
tat kurusva mad-arpanam" (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Nine verse 27)

"Lord Sri Krishna said: Whatever you do, whatever you eat, whatever you offer or give away, and whatever austerities you perform—do that, O Arjuna, as an offering to Me (Lord Sri Krishna)."

"subhasubha-phalair evam
moksyase karma-bandhanaih
sannyasa-yoga-yuktatma
vimukto mam upaisyasi" (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Nine verse 28)

"Lord Sri Krishna said: In this way you will be freed from bondage to work (karmas) and its auspicious and inauspicious results. With your mind fixed on Me (Lord Sri Krishna) in this principle of renunciation, you will be liberated and come to Me."

So Let's pray to God (Lord Sri Krishna) always in life so that we can go to God's abode than going to heaven as we shall need to take rebirth after going to heaven while we shall get permanent life in God's abode. Let's pray to God always so that He can bless us in this & after this life. Loving & praying to God only can save us from the cycles of birth & death & from all types of miseries in life.

Ticket to Heaven is always a 'Returnable Ticket'

Divine Grace Of God

God is all merciful. His Divine grace or Blessing or 'Kripa' (कृपा) happens on all creatures. Divine grace is of two types. First one is Normal mercy & second one is Special mercy. Normal mercy is the one which is happening on all creatures, equally by God. Like Sun is shining on all beings equally or God provides for the water, air & food etc. for all the creatures, irrespective of whether these creatures love Him or not. Say there are many people who do not like or believe in God & rather there are many people who abuse the God or say ill of Him but still God never stops providing sunshine, air, water, food etc. to such people. This is called God's Normal mercy.

Other than that is Special mercy of God. This type of mercy happens on God's devotees. Such special Divine grace on devotees in Hinduism is the central tenet of Bhakti Yoga and Bhakti movements. It is a key towards realizing the spiritual path of self-realization in which God embraces His devotee. When Special mercy of God happens on any person then God gives that person, whatever, that person is lacking in life & also protects his/her life & belongings. In fact that person is always protected in life by God. Such type of Special mercy of God only happens on a person who engages his/her mind always in thinking of God, becomes God's devotee, offers obeisance's to God and always worships the God. Being completely absorbed in God, surely that person becomes eligible for God's Special mercy.

That is the reason that Adi Shankaracharya composed his famous verse Bhaja Govindam in 8th century, where he declared:

"bhajagovindam bhajagovindam
govindam bhaja muudhamate
sampraapte sannihite kaale
nahi nahi rakshati dukrijnkarane"

Worship Govinda, Worship Govinda,
Worship Govinda. Oh fool!
Nothing else will save you
at the time of your death.

Similarly below verses of Bhagwat Gita explain that:

"samo ’ham sarva-bhutesu
na me dvesyo ’sti na priyah
ye bhajanti tu mam bhaktya
mayi te tesu chapy aham" (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Nine verse 29)

"Sri Krishna said: I envy no one, nor am I partial to anyone. I am equal to all. But whoever renders service unto Me in devotion is a friend, is in Me, and I am also a friend to him."

"ananyas cintayanto mam
ye janah paryupasate
tesham nityabhiyuktanam
yoga-ksemam vahamy aham" (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Nine verse 22)

"Sri Krishna said: But those who always worship Me with exclusive devotion, meditating on My transcendental form—to them I carry what they lack, and I preserve what they have."

"sarva-dharman parityajya
mam ekam saranam vraja
aham tvam sarva-papebhyo
mokshayisyami ma suchah" (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Eighteen verse 66)

"Sri Krishna said: O Arjuna, Abandon all varieties of religion or Setting aside all meritorious deeds, just surrender unto Me. I shall liberate you from all sins. Do not fear."

You are a Wave of the Ocean

Whenever you see the Ocean in it's calm state, there are no waves in it. It seems peaceful, calm & still. But when you see the ocean raging with turbulence, then you see waves in it. Sometimes these waves takes the huge proportion & are also called "Sunami", which causes lot of destruction.

Now, what basically these waves are? These waves are nothing but water of ocean only which are having lots of energy in it, which makes it to rise & fall in the ocean. When, there is no such turbulent energy in the ocean which can make it's water rise & fall, then there are no waves in it & ocean is still & calm.

Can you differentiate waves from the ocean? No, as waves are the water of the ocean only. Waves are Ocean only. Waves & Ocean are one & the same thing. Just due to turbulent energy of the ocean, waves appear to be different than the ocean. Waves are nothing but the effect of turbulence in the ocean. Is there any independent existence of Waves? No, it has it's existence only in relation to Ocean. Basically, Waves have no independent existence as Ocean is Waves & Waves are the Ocean. When waves merge in the Ocean then it's existence disappears & it's Ocean only that remains. So basically, sometimes waves only appear to be a separate identity but in reality it is the Ocean only in totality.

Same is the case with this world. This whole universe is appearing to be real. But in reality it is the result of the energies of that Universal Soul (God). This whole world has it's existence in that Universal Soul only. Universal Soul (God) is like the ocean & this whole world is appearing to be having it's own independent existence just like the waves in the ocean, but it is not so in reality. Just like the waves have no independent existence other than the ocean, similarly this whole universe has no independent existence other than the Universal Soul (God). In reality this whole seemingly universe is nothing but that Universal Soul (God) only. As you cannot separate the waves from the ocean, so in the same way, you cannot separate the Universe from the Universal Soul (God). Both are one only. That's why it is said that we should treat each person, each living creature of this world to be God only.

So, You are the waves, You are the ocean. We are all waves of the same Ocean. There is no higher or lower wave. The waves and the ocean are one. You have to plunge yourself in the ocean & be one with it. Just leave aside your ego of your independent identity in this world. Be humble & lose your ego. It's your ego only which is keeping your separate identity in this world. Just lose your ego & dive yourself in the ocean of Universal Soul.

In Bhagwat Gita Lord Krishna also tells us about the creation of this universe from the un-manifest God.

"maya tatam idam sarvam
jagad avyakta-murtina
mat-sthani sarva-bhutani
na chaham tesv avasthitah"
(Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Nine verse 4)

"Sri Krishna said: By Me, in My un-manifested form, this entire universe is pervaded. All beings are in Me, but I am not in them."

"avyaktadini bhutani
vyakta-madhyani bharata
avyakta-nidhanany eva
tatra ka paridevana"
(Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Two verse 28)

"Sri Krishna said: All created beings are un-manifest in their beginning, manifest in their interim state, and un-manifest again when annihilated. So what need is there for lamentation?"

"athakasa-sthito nityam
vayuh sarvatra-go mahan
tatha sarvani bhutani
mat-sthanity upadharaya"
(Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Nine verse 6)

"Sri Krishna said: Understand that just as the mighty wind, blowing everywhere, rests always in the sky, so do all created beings rest in Me (Universal Soul)."

"Brahmn"

God is called Brahmn,

Whole world dwells in Brahmn,

Whole world comes from Brahmn,

Whole world goes back in Brahmn,

Whole world breathes in Brahmn,

Let's worship that Brahmn, the God.

(Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Nine verse 4)

"Sri Krishna said: By Me, in My unmanifested form, this entire universe is pervaded. All beings are in Me, but I am not in them."

"athakasa-sthito nityam

How wonderful is this Space???

Technological innovations of nowadays are so wonderful that we have stopped wondering about these innovations as these seem so common to us. Whether it is Mobile Phone technology or the Wi-Fi technology used to transmit data to our laptop. Just see that my Broadband internet connection line comes to the Internet Transmitter line in my Study room where I have put a Wi-Fi Transmitter, which converts my Landline Broadband signal to Wi-Fi i.e. it converts Landline Internet signal to Wireless signal & I am able to have wireless signal anywhere in my home & able to run Internet on my Laptop, effortlessly & wirelessly. I am able to receive & send Internet data wirelessly on my Laptop anytime, anywhere through this Space. Isn't it amazing. Though it is wonderful but we have stopped wondering about it as it has become so common. Let's start wondering about the things about which we have stopped wondering.

Though Space is invisible but stilll through this invisible medium we are able to receive Internet Data & also rays of our Mobile phones. Isn't it amazing? Yes, it's amazing if we really think about it. If this invisible medium called SPACE is doing wonders practically in our lives then can't you think of another Invisible medium called GOD which is also creating wonders in our lives. Yes, its true that Invisible GOD is looking at our lives & controlling our lives but we don't realize that. Here below is a Verse from Bhagwat Gita which exemplify this very loudly.

Yathakasa-sthito nityam
vayuh sarvatra-go mahan
tatha sarvani bhutani
mat-sthanity upadharaya (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Nine verse 6)

"Sri Krishna says in Gita: Just like the mighty wind, blowing everywhere, rests always in the sky, so do all created beings rest in Me i.e. in God, who in its unmanifest aspect always rests within this all pervasive space."

From the above verse it is very clear that God gets seated himself always within this all pervasive Space & sees all our activities & controls this whole universe. So Let's start wondering about this Space & the God who is seated within this space in the invisible form. Once we realize this then it shall be very easy to see GOD all around us.

God Assures you that He shall protect you

In Bhagwat Gita, God assures his disciple Arjuna in many ways & asks him to take refuge in Him & says that He shall emancipate him of sin in all ways, shall rescue him in his life always.
