Lets thank God for what we have in Life

Lets thank God for what we have in Life. Lets be thankful to God for, whatever, we have received in our life from Him. Let us learn to appreciate what we have in life. Listen to above musical video which thanks God in every way & its lyrics are very beautiful.

You should appreciate, whatever, you have achieved in life till today. Just see that there are many who have not achieved even that in life & you are much better of than many many on this earth. All around you, there are many people who are less fortunate than yourself. So we should always appreciate & give thanks to God for what we have in life.

Story:

“Once there was a blind boy. One day he sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. He also held up a sign by his side which said: "I am blind, please help." He used to get only a few coins in the hat by the end of the day. One day a man walked by him. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around, and wrote some words. He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words.

Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy. That afternoon the man who had changed the sign came to see, how things were. The boy recognized his footsteps and asked, "Were you the one who changed my sign this morning? What did you write?"

The man said, "I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a different way." What he had written was: "Today is a beautiful day and I cannot see it." Do you think the first sign and the second sign were saying the same thing?

Of course both signs told people the boy was blind. But the first sign simply said the boy was blind. The second sign told people they were so lucky that they were not blind. Should we be surprised that the second sign was more effective?

Moral of the Story:

Be thankful for what you have. Be creative. Be innovative. Think differently and positively. Invite others towards good with wisdom. Live life with no excuse and love with no regrets. When life gives you a 100 reasons to cry, show life that you have 1000 reasons to smile. Face your past without regret. Handle your present with confidence. Prepare for the future without fear. Keep the faith and drop the fear.”

You should appreciate, whatever, you have achieved in life till today. Just see that there are many who have not achieved even that in life & you are much better of than many many on this earth. All around you, there are many people who are less fortunate than yourself. So we should always appreciate & give thanks to God for what we have in life.

It is all right that we all want to be better in life than what we are today. It is all right that if we work hard in life, we can fulfill our dreams. But there is no reason to get depressed in life just comparing yourself with rich, resourceful persons & moaning that you do not have all that in life. We should not forget about our own limit and capacity.

So let's be grateful to God for whatever we have in life. If you are able to thank God for, whatever, He has given you in life, then also you shall appreciate what you have in life. We should always focus on the positives in life. So let us start appreciating what we have. Appreciate what you have achieved in life till now. Appreciate your own looks & body. Appreciate the house you live in. Appreciate that you & your family are having good food while there are many who are not just having that also. Appreciate your loved ones, your children. Appreciation of yourself shall bring confidence in you, it shall also bring peace & happiness in your family life.

God, the Great Giver gives His Gifts to His devotees just like the Santa Claus does. The Great Giver, the Lord, keeps on giving, while those who receive grow weary of receiving.

In Bhagwat Gita God too assures:

"ananyas cintayanto mam
ye janah paryupasate
tesham nityabhiyuktanam
yoga-ksemam vahamy aham" (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Nine verse 22)

"Sri Krishna said to Arjuna: But those who always worship Me with exclusive devotion, meditating on My transcendental form—to them I give what they lack in life, and I protect what they have."

So Lets be thankful to God for, whatever, we have received in our life from Him. Let us learn to appreciate what we have in life.

Jai Sri Krishna

Greatness of Chapter Fourteen of Bhagwat Gita

Here below is explained the Greatness of Chapter Fourteen of Bhagwat Gita. Read the story below to see, how all the sinful reactions are destroyed by just reading the Chapter 14 of the Bhagwat Gita.

“Lord Siva said “Oh, Parvati kindly hear from Me the glories of the Fourteenth Chapter of the Srimad Bhagwat Gita, with the greatest attention.

In Simhaldvip, there was a king of the name Vikram-Betual. One day, when he was going to the forest for hunting, he took his son and two hunting dogs along with him. When he reached the forest he released one dog to chase a rabbit. When that dog was chasing it, the rabbit looked as if it was flying. Running and running, that rabbit reached a beautiful hermitage, which was very peaceful. The deer were sitting happily under the shade of the trees. And the monkeys were joyfully eating the fruits of those trees. The cubs of the tigers were playing with the baby elephants, and the snakes were crawling over the peacocks. In this forest, the great sage Vatsa lived, who worshipped Lord Krishna by reciting the Fourteenth Chapter of the Srimad Bhagwat Gita. Near the ashram of sage Vatsa, one of his disciples was washing his feet while chanting the Fourteenth Chapter of Srimad Bhagwat Gita. The earth at that spot became wet. Just then that rabbit came running and slipped in the mud. Immediately that rabbit attained a heavenly body. An airplane came down, picked him up and took him off to the heavenly planets. After a moment, that dog arrived there in search of the rabbit, and he also slipped in the mud; gave up that dog body and attained a heavenly body and was also taken off to the heavenly planets.

Seeing all of this, the disciple of sage Vatsa started to laugh. King Vikram-Betal, having witnessed those amusing events inquired from that Brahmin, “How is it possible that the rabbit and dog went off to heaven in front of our eyes?” That Brahmin said, “in this forest, a great sage of the name Vatsa, who has completely conquered his senses, is always engaged in chanting the Fourteenth Chapter of the Srimad Bhagwat Gita. I am his disciple, and I am also by his grace always engaged in chanting the Fourteenth Chapter of the Srimad Bhagwat Gita. Due to that rabbit and dog after slipping in the mud, which had been made wet from the water, which had washed sage Vatsa’s feet, they both attained to the higher planets. Now I will tell you the reason why I was laughing; In Maharashtra, there is the town of the name Pratudhak. One Brahmin of the name Keshava had lived there. He was the most cruel of men. His wife’s name was Vilobbana. She was a very loose lady, who always enjoyed the company of other men. For this reason, her husband became very angry and killed her. In her next life she became that dog. And that Brahmin Keshava, due to his sinful activities became that rabbit.”

Lord Siva said, “After hearing the glories of the Fourteenth Chapter of Srimad Bhagwat Gita, King Vikram-Betal also began daily reciting the Fourteenth Chapter of Srimad Bhagwat Gita, when he gave up that body, he went to Vaikuntha where he was able to engage eternally in the service of the lotus-feet of Lord Vishnu.

So that is the greatness of chapter Fourteen of Bhagwat Gita.”

Chapter Fourteen of Bhagwat Gita is entitled "The Yoga of Classification of the three Gunas."

On the battle field of Kurukshetra, when Arjuna, the disciple of Lord Krishna got infatuated & forgot his duty to fight, then Lord Krishna reminded Arjuna of his duty to fight a lawful, justful war & gave him the teachings of Bhagwat Gita. Arjuna after having been taught in the path of knowledge by Lord Krishna came back to his path of duty & fought a lawful battle against the Kauravas (his enemies) & won the battle with the grace of Lord Krishna.

Greatness of Chapter Ten of Bhagwat Gita

Here below is explained the Greatness of Chapter Ten of Bhagwat Gita. Read the story below to see, how all the sinful reactions are destroyed by just reading the Chapter 10 of the Bhagwat Gita.

“In the olden times, there was a Brahmin of the name of Dhira-buddhi in Kashipuri, who was very dear to Lord Shiva. He was always peaceful and all of his senses were fixed in the glorification of Lord Krishna. Wherever, he would go, Lord Shiva would follow him with great love, so that Lord Shiva could protect and serve him. Seeing Lord Shiva’s activities, Lord Shiva’s eternal servant Bhringi-riddhi inquired from Lord Shiva, “What kind of austerities and other pious activities has this great devotee performed, that you are personally rendering service to him?”

Hearing Bhringi-riddhi’s inquiry, Lord Shiva replied as follows. “Once, in Kailash Purvat, in the garden known as Punnaag, I was enjoying sitting in the moonlight, and suddenly there was a great wind, which caused the trees to shake with a very loud noise. Suddenly a shadow was cast all around as if a mountain was moving. Suddenly, in the sky, a very large bird in the colour of a rain cloud appeared. Due to the flapping of its wings, it was causing the trees to shake and the dust to swirl around. Suddenly the bird landed on the ground and offered his respects to me and also one beautiful lotus flower. After which, he said, “Oh Mahadeva! All glories to you, the shelter of all. There is no limit to your glories. You are the protector of the devotees, who have control over their senses. And you are the foremost of all the devotees of the Supreme Lord Krishna. Great souls such as Brihaspati are always chanting your glories. But even the thousand-headed Ananta Shesa, is not able to fully describe your glories. So what to speak of a bird like me, with such small intelligence.”

After hearing the bird’s prayer, I inquired, “Who are you, and where are you coming from? You look like a swan and your bodily colour is that of a crow.” That bird said, “Please understand that I am the swan-carrier of Lord Brahma. And the reason for my body having attained a black colour, I will relate to you.

Just close to Saurashtra (Surat), there is one beautiful lake, from where this wonderful heavenly lotus flower came from. I had been enjoying there for some time. Just as I was flying off from that place, I suddenly fell to the ground and my body took on this black colour. At that time I was thinking to my self. How have I fallen down, and how has my body which was white like camphor, turned black? While thinking in this way I heard a voice, coming from the lotuses in the lake “Oh, swan, get up, I will tell you the reason why you fell down, and your body turned black.” At that time I got up and went to the centre of the lake, where there were five extraordinary beautiful lotuses, out of which came a very beautiful lady. After circumambulating her, I inquired as to the reason of my falling down. She replied; “Oh, black swan, while you were flying, you flew over me, and due to this offense, your body has now become black. When I saw you fall down, I felt sorry for you, thus, I called you here. When I opened my mouth, the scent emanating from it was able to purify at one time seven thousand black bees, who immediately attained admission into the heavenly realm. My dear king of birds, the reason I have such power I will tell you.

Previous to this birth, three births before, I was born in a Brahmin family, and my name was Saroja-vadana, my father had always instructed me in the principles of chastity and when I got married I served my husband very faithfully. One day I found a Maina (a black bird), and due to looking after it, my service to my husband became affected, for which he became angry, and cursed me, “Oh, sinful woman, you will become a Maina in your next birth.”

In my next birth I became a Maina, but due to my following the principles of chastity strictly, I managed to come in contact with some sages, who kept me at their ashram. One of the sage’s daughters used to look after me. While staying there, every morning and evening I would hear the recitation of the tenth chapter of Shrimad Bhagwat Gita, due to which in my next birth I attained the body of an Apsara in the heavenly planets of the name Padmavati. One day, I was travelling in a flower airplane when I saw the beautiful lotus flower on this lake. Coming here, I started to enjoy in the water. At that time, Durvasa-Rishi arrived and saw me completely naked. Being afraid of him I immediately took on the form of five lotuses. My two arms became two lotuses and my two legs became two lotuses, and the rest of my body became the fifth lotus. From Durvasa Rishi’s eyes fire started to emanate: “Oh, sinful one, you will stay in that form for one hundred years”. After cursing me, he immediately disappeared. But fortunately, I was able to remember the Tenth Chapter of the Shrimad Bhagwat Gita. And today, I have become free from the curse, Due to your crossing over me, you fell to the ground and your body became black. But if you hear from me the Tenth Chapter of the Shrimad Bhagwat Gita, you will be able to become free from this situation.”

After Padmavati had completed reciting the Tenth Chapter of Shrimad Bhagwat Gita, she left in an airplane for Vaikuntha. After that I came here and offered this beautiful lotus from that lake to you.”
Lord Siva said, “After that black swan completed his story he immediately gave up his body and took birth in a Brahmin family as Dhira-buddhi, who, from his childhood, always chanted the Tenth Chapter of Shrimad Bhagwat Gita.
And whoever would hear that chanting from him would attain darshan of Lord Vishnu, who is holding the Shankha and Chakra. Whoever would hear that chanting, whether they are fallen and addicted to intoxication, or even killers of Brahmins, they would attain the darshan of Lord Vishnu, who is holding the Shankha and Chakra. For that reason my dear Bhringi-riddhi, I am always serving Dhira-buddhi.”

Lord Siva said, “My dear Parvati, whether one be a male or female, Sannyasi or Grihastha in fact whatever situation one may be in, if he chants the Tenth Chapter of Shrimad Bhagwat Gita, he will attain the darshan of Lord Vishnu.

So that is the greatness of Tenth chapter of Bhagwat Gita.”

Greatness of Chapter Seven of Bhagwat Gita

Here below is explained the Greatness of Chapter Seven of Bhagwat Gita. Read the story below to see, how all the sinful reactions are destroyed by just reading the Chapter 7 of the Bhagwat Gita.

In the olden times, there was a brahmin by the name of Shanku-karna, who was occupied as a businessman. Shanku-karna amassed so much wealth that even kings visited his house to dine. But the miserly Shanku-karna kept some of his wealth buried, concealed from his relatives, and he never performed devotional acts or the rituals for his forefathers. Once, after his fourth marriage, Shanku-karna took rest for the night. While asleep, he received a snakebite and died. Later he attained the body of a snake-ghost, and he came to reside at the place where he had buried his wealth. Eventually he became tired of being trapped in a ghostly body, so he appeared to his sons in a dream and asked their help.

When his lazy sons woke up, they talked about their dream. Then one of them took a spade and went to the place his father had indicated. The son did not know exactly where to find the buried wealth, but he searched greedily until he found a snake hole. As he started to dig, suddenly a huge and appalling snake crawled out and asked, “Who are you? Who sent you to dig here?” Trembling for his life, the son replied: “It is me, your son, Shiva, to whom you appeared in a dream.”

The snake laughed and asked, why you indeed as his son, had not performed the necessary rituals to free him from the hellish life. The son inquired how to do this. His father replied, “Not by any kind of charity or austerity but only by recitation from the seventh chapter of the Bhagwat Gita will I become free from birth and death.” The father instructed his son to invite a brahmin to recite the seventh chapter during a ceremony to offer oblations to the forefathers. As this ceremony took place, the brahmin chanted the seventh chapter of the Bhagwat Gita, and Shanku-karna gave up his frightful body and attained a divine four-armed form. Before he left for Vaikunth Dham he blessed his sons and told them the location of his wealth.

After digging it up, the sons, whose minds had become fixed in devotion to Lord Krishna, used the wealth to build temples, dig wells and holy ponds, and distribute sanctified food. Moreover, the sons daily recited the seventh chapter of the Bhagwat Gita and quickly attained the devotion of Lord Krishna. Anyone who recites or hears this chapter will be freed from all the sinful reactions.

So that is the greatness of Seventh chapter of Bhagwat Gita.”

Greatness of Chapter Six of Bhagwat Gita

Here below is explained the Greatness of Chapter Six of Bhagwat Gita. Read the story below to see, how all the sinful reactions are destroyed by just reading the Chapter 6 of Bhagwat Gita.

In the olden times, there was a beautiful town named Pratishthan-pura on the bank of the Godavari River. There was a popular king named Jana-shrutee who ruled over there. He had many good qualities, and he daily performed an opulent fire sacrifice and many other pious acts, like he gave charity, dug wells and lakes, and so on.

Once some demigods went to the king’s residence in the form of swans. As they flew above his palace, the demigod Bhadra-shwa heard several swans mention Jana-shrutee ’s greatness, but Bhadra-shwa laughed and asked, “Is Jana-shrutee Maharaja as powerful as the great sage Raikwa.”

The king happened to hear the swans’ conversation from the roof of his high palace, and then went down in a happy mood and ordered his charioteer to go out and find Raikwa. Thus ordered, the charioteer departed for holy places. Upon arriving in Kashmir, he saw the sage sitting on a small cart near the door of a temple.

The charioteer fell at Raikwa’s feet and asked him where he lived, what his full name was, and why he was sitting there. Raikwa thought for some time and replied, “I am fully satisfied. I do not require anything.” The charioteer understood and returned at once to Pratishthan-pura. When charioteer arrived, he offered his respects to the king and informed him of all that had taken place. The king then decided to visit the great sage Raikwa. Seated on a beautiful chariot filled with valuable gifts, he left for Kashmir.

When the king finally met Raikwa and had fallen at his feet, he placed many silks and jewels before the sage. The sage, however, became angry and said, “You foolish king! Take these useless things away. Put them on your chariot and leave this place at once.” With great devotion the king fell at Raikwa’s feet again and begged to be forgiven. He asked, “O sage, how have you attained such a level of renunciation and devotion to the Lord?”

Pleased by the king’s submissive attitude,Raikwa replied that he had daily recited the sixth chapter of the Bhagwat Gita. There-after, King Jana-shrutee also began to recite it daily. After some time a flower airplane appeared and took the king to Vaikuntha. Raikwa, in the meantime, had also gone to Vaikuntha, where he engaged in the service of the lotus feet of the Supreme Lord. So that is the greatness of Sixth chapter of Bhagwat Gita.”

How Bhagwat Gita can transform Your Life?

If Bhagwat Gita becomes a part & parcel of your life then it shall totally transform your life. It not only shall guide you through your life journey but shall also shape the way you live your life. In my case it all started when I was 15 years of age. One day I found a portable, very old copy of Bhagwat Gita by Gita Press in my family cupboard. I started reading that at the age of 15 & my fascination for Lord Krishna grew very much. Since then I have become a staunch devotee of Lord Krishna & His teachings of Bhagwat Gita. I have been reading the Bhagwat Gita all these years which taught me many lessons & transformed my life on the way to Karma Yoga. Below are some of the great lessons that I have learnt from Bhagwat Gita through many yoga paths as taught by Lord Krishna in this great book.

1) How to remove Stress, pessimism in our Life: In our day to day life we all encounter myriads of problems, gets work pressure, stress etc. Now if we can find some way in which you can de-stress ourself & find peace of mind within ourselves then how good it be in our life. The great philosophy of Bhagwat Gita not only tells us about the Yoga technique which can make our body stress free but also gives many ways by which we can calm our mind. Other than that it tells us about the mystery of Life & Death.

In the battle field of Kurukshetra, when Arjuna, the disciple of Lord Krishna got infatuated & forgot his prescribed duty to fight, then Lord Krishna reminded Arjuna of his duty to fight a lawful, justful war & gave him the teachings of Bhagwat Gita. Lord Krishna through Bhagwat Gita teachings removed all dejection, pessimism in Arjuna’s Life. Similarly, whenever, dejection, despondency, pessimism comes in my life, I reach out to Bhagwat Gita which tells me that I should do my duty, do good to society & be a devotee of Lord Krishna, which removes all pessimism from my Life.

2) We need to be a true KarmYogi : This whole world is a creation of God / Lord Krishna, so we should work for Him only. If we develop this sense that we are working selflessly to sustain this world created by God only, then also we shall develop an affinity towards God. Lord Krishna tells in Bhagwat Gita that if a person offers all his work & activities to God, thinking this world to be a creation of God only, then that person is called KarmYogi.

By devoting all our Karmas to God our mind gets purified of all the impurities & our mind receives the Godly light, Godly grace and Godly knowledge. If we do Service of humanity then also it is the service of God as God sits in the heart of all human beings. Let’s work without attachment and egoism & offer all the good works of ours to God.

By practicing Karma Yoga our heart reaches out to other people & through it we see God in all people’s hearts. By such devotional practice, divine virtues such as love, mercy, tolerance, kindness, patience, self-restraint, etc. are developed in us. Karma Yoga destroys jealousy, hatred, malice and the idea of superiority in us.

So I am also offering all my Karmas to God only& work for God only. This thinking & way of working by offering all my actions to God has brought peace in my life.

3) We need to motivate ourselves to do good to society: When Arjuna listened to all these great teachings of Bhagwat Gita from Lord Krishna, Arjuna's mental health became well & he became motivated & energetic to fight the war. At times we find ourselves in demotivated, depressed state of mind in our life. Same thing happened many times in my life but through the teachings of "Bhagwat Gita", my state of mind got changed to a motivated energetic state of mind Through these teachings I find peace in my life & came out of many crisis situations in my life. The teachings of "Bhagwat Gita" can simply transform a person.

4) Finding our Inner Soul Strength: Inner Strength is our Soul strength, Mental strength or Personal Strength which comes into action in our hard times to defeat all such negative symptoms of sadness, depression etc. in our life. In hard times it helps in building our low esteem and loss of confidence. When we are passing through bad times, we have a feeling of self dejection & a feeling that we will not succeed in life. In all such times, our Inner Soul Strength comes into play. Inner Strength is basically an exploration to find our authentic self. Bhagwat Gita teaches us to peep into & explore our original inner self which is our Soul. "Bhagwat Gita" is a reservoir to answers to all such questions. "Bhagwat Gita", time & again tells us that we have a Soul inside our human body & this Soul has infinite potential. As this Soul of ours is a spark of the Infinite all powerful, all pervasive Universal Soul (God), so Soul’s powers are also limit less. This Soul present inside our human body, in fact gives strength to our mind to carry out all difficult tasks. Believing in oneself is nothing but believing in one's inner Soul. All fountains of knowledge & strength come out of this inner Soul only. So knowing this Soul strength through the teachings of Bhagwat Gita one attains one’s true self which is Soul.

5) Mind Control through Bhagwat Gita teachings: Bhagwat Gita teaches us about the "Mind Control" & a controlled mind not hankering after things of the world can do many good works for the society. As per Bhagwat Gita, “For those people whose mind is unbridled, uncontrolled & wandering, peace of mind cannot be attained but those people whose mind is controlled and who strive by appropriate means is assured of success in every walk of life." So it has given lots of peace to my mind by following the teachings of Bhagwat Gita.
We can also make our mind Conflict-Free by following the teachings of Bhagavat-Gita. In our life if we have control over your mind i.e. if there is equilibrium of Emotions and Intellect in your mind then we shall be peaceful & happy in life.

6) Work without caring for the fruit arising out of that work: One teaching of "Bhagwat Gita" is to do one's work for the sake of work only without caring for the fruit arising out of that work. That simply means to get deeply involved in one's work or just be single minded about performing the best in one's job without thinking about the results arising out of those actions. Just concentrate on your work, that's it. Same is in "Bhagwat Gita: Chapter 2 verse 47” where "Lord Sri Krishna said: You have a right to perform your prescribed duty, but you are not entitled to the fruits of action. Never consider yourself the cause of the results of your activities, and never be attached to not doing your duty."

7) Have Devotion in God through Bhakti Yoga: Bhakti is nothing but devotion towards God. Bhakti is the relationship between a soul (that of the devotee) and God. As per Bhagwat Gita, Bhakti is a yogic path, through which a devotee gets a union with God. Through these teachings of Bhakti Yoga I have developed a great Love for Lord Krishna which has made my life quite peaceful & enriching.

In Bhagwat Gita, Lord Krishna is assuring Arjuna that He shall always be with him in all circumstances if he is always in devotion to Him. Same thing applies to every human being also. If a person remains devoted to Lord Krishna then Lord promises that He shall deliver that person of all the sins of the past & purify that person. By doing such loving service to the Lord, certainly that person shall be in the eyes of Lord & Lord shall always protect that person. So let's be devoted to Lord Krishna always. Let's sing His Glories, read literature regarding Him & also do loving service to humanity (charity etc.) in His name. So lets have devotion to Lord Krishna.

In Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Eighteen verse 68, 69, Sri Krishna says: “O Arjuna, For one who explains this supreme secret to the devotees, pure devotional service is guaranteed to him, and at the end he will come back to Me. There is no servant in this world more dear to Me than he, nor will there ever be one more dear to Me.”
Following these words of Lord Krishna I though that in this Digital Age, it shall be good to serve Lord Krishna by disseminating His teachings of Bhagwat Gita through a Blog. So in year 2006, I started writing & sharing Bhagwat Gita teachings through this Bhagwat Gita Blog which is read by large section of Lord Krishna devotees all around the world.

As Bhagwat Gita has transformed my Life completely so I wish that it should also transform your life if you follow these teachings religiously. I pray for you to Lord Krishna & May God Bless You.

Jai Shri Krishna

Immortality of Soul as per Bhagwat Gita

Lord Krishna tells Arjuna as per Bhagwat Gita that Individual Soul is Immortal. It tells all of us with conviction that we are an Immortal Soul & not a mortal body. We shall survive after death also & we as a Soul shall live forever, births after births.

As per Lord Krishna, one Soul present in a body goes through different phases of childhood, youth and old age, so also does that Soul pass into another body; the wise man does not grieve thereat. Know Lord Krishna days that all powerful, Supersoul is indestructible, by whom all this is world is pervaded. None can cause the destruction of That Supersoul, the Imperishable. As we casts off worn-out clothes and puts on new ones, so also the embodied Soul
in this body casts off worn-out bodies and enters others bodies that are new. This rebirth cycle goes on like that & has been going on like that for centuries.

As per Lord Krishna, very sharp weapons cannot cut this soul, nor fire can burn It water cannot wet It & wind cannot dry it. So ones Soul cannot be cut by weapons, burnt by fire, wetted by water nor dried up by air. It is eternal, all-pervasive, same at all times, ancient and immovable, Some people sees the embodied Soul with wonder; some other speaks of It as a wonder; some other hears of It as wonderful; yet, there are many who having heard also, does not understand It at all.

Real Seekers of God

In Indian culture, Satsang or a religious congregation where thousands of spiritual or religious people assemble together is a very common sight. Such Satsang or religious congregations generally happen regularly in Indian cities where spiritual discourses are given by a Guru & thousands of people listen to such discourses. Have you ever thought, how many of these thousands of people assembled there really have a true desire to know God? In fact most of these people are worldly people who have their mind deeply engrossed in their family affairs. Very few in the crowd are there who have a true desire to know God in reality.

In such a crowd of religious congregation, out of 10,000 people you may find only one who is a true seeker of God. Out of such 10,000 true seekers you may find only one who has a true knowledge of God. Out of such 10,000 people who have a true knowledge of God there is only one who has seen God & is a True Saint. So there is a rare person who has seen God & who live in true bliss of God.

In Bhagwat Gita also the Great Lord, Sri Krishna says the same about this matter. Below is a good verse, "Verse - 3, Chapter Seven of Bhagwat Gita"teaching the same thing.

"Manush-yanam sahes-tresu
kashchid yatati siddhyaye
yat-taam api siddhanam
kashchin mam vetti tatvatah" (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter VII verse 3)

“Sri Krishna said: O Arjuna, Of thousands of men some rare soul strives to realize Me & endeavour for perfection, and of those striving Yogis, again, someone rare one (devoting himself exclusively to Me) knows Me in reality."

Devotees are of different types. Some remember God when they are in distress & want to get rid of their grief. Some want to know God due to their inquisitiveness about Him. Some pray God to attain wealth in life while some wise men want to have true knowledge of God. As per Bhagwat Gita there are 4 types of devotees of God.

1) First one are those people who are in distress. In our bad times when we are in distress or when we are going through physical or mental agony, at that time we generally remember & pray to God. Such people devote themselves to God because they wish to be liberated from grief.

2) Second one are those people who want to know about the God. Such people have faith in God & want to know more about Him. Such people due to their inquisitiveness, debate about the God, read books etc. to know more about the God.

3) Third one are those people who want to gain wealth in life. There is no end to such people in this world. You can find such people generally in temples etc. asking God to give them wealth, money etc. Such people are those one's who do their appointed task for money because doing it will bring good fortune to them. So such people are the doers of selfish action in life.

4) Fourth one are those people who are people of True knowledge. Such people are really the wise men. They have true knowledge to God. They are the realized sages, who have attained to the stage of reaching the supreme goal.

Below are the verses of Bhagwat Gita which explain about the above said 4 types of devotees.

"chatur-vidha bhajante mam
janah sukritino ’rjuna
arto jijnasur artharthi
jnani cha bharatarsabha" (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Seven verse 16)

"Sri Krishna said: O Arjuna, four kinds of pious men begin to render devotional service unto Me—the distressed, the inquisitive, the desirer of wealth, and the one who is searching for knowledge of the Absolute."

"udarah sarva evaite
jnani tv atmaiva me matam
asthitah sa hi yuktatma
mam evanuttamam gatim" (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Seven verse 18)

"Sri Krishna said: All these devotees are undoubtedly magnanimous souls, but he who is situated in knowledge of Me, I consider to be just like My own self. Being engaged in My transcendental service, he/she is sure to attain Me, the highest and most perfect goal."

So just check, which type of devotee of God are you? If you are not the fourth one i.e. a person of True knowledge, a really wise person, then just strive to be the one. Just devote yourself to God, read religious literature, join the company of saintly people, give charities, alms to the people. Doing all such good works & having a yearning for God, you shall certainly become a wise person, a true devotee of God & shall ultimately attain to Him.

Also if you have some Guru or you know of a great soul whom you revere as Great Godly person, then be sure that your Idol person, really has knowledge of God & has realized Him in life. Just check, whether he is the real rare Gem who knows God in reality & can lead you also to God.
