I came across an article -Specific similarities between the lives of Jesus and Krishna-which finds similarities between the lives of Jesus and Lord Krishna. Though Lord Krishna was born more than 3100 years before the Jesus but some of the similarities between the lives of the two are interesting. There are some of similarities mentioned in the article which I do not subscribe to but the below mentioned ones are worth noticing......Like:
- Both were called Savior, and the second person of the Trinity.
- Both were sent from heaven to earth in the form of a man.
- Krishna and Jesus were of royal descent.
- Angels in both cases issued a warning that the local dictator planned to kill the baby and had issued a decree for his assassination.
- Both Jesus and Krishna were called both a God and the Son of God.
- Both claimed: "I am the Resurrection."
- Both referred to themselves having existed before their birth on earth.
- Both were god-men: being considered both human and divine.
- They were both considered omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent.
- Both performed many miracles, including the healing of disease.

ReplyDeleteHi
Thanks for this blog.
By the way, can you put some light on this
"Both Jesus and Krishna were called both a God and the Son of God"
Pardon my ignorance but I am not aware as to when Shri Krishna claimed to be the son of God. I think Lord Krishna had explicitly mentioned that he is unborn i.e., Ajanma. In such a case, the existence of father can be ruled out.
I was reading a book called Holy Book of Hindu Regligion and came across the same similarities.. I am not Indian by birth .. I am now learning and understanding more about the gita and the hindu life .. I have told many of my friends that God and the Goddess did not only protect India but those whom believed .. To many similarities in many cultures and rituels.. I am thankful I my dear friend and brother ( to me) sent me this blog to read .. I read it every day .. has made it easier for me to understand the Bhawat Gita . Thank you . Paz y Felicida ..
ReplyDeleteAbout "Both Jesus and Krishna were called both a God and the Son of God", Yes I agree at first sight that Lord Krishna is called God & not Son of God. In the case of Jesus He is called Son of God.
ReplyDeleteBut in true philosophical sense "Father, Son, Holyghost" of Bible are equivalent to "Sat, Tat, Om" of Hinduism. In Christianity Son aspect is Jesus & in Hinduism, Tat aspect is God & in that sense Lord Krishna is Tat also i.e. Son aspect of Bible only. Tat/Son aspect means the Omnipresent God who is sitting everywhere within this space & in whole of the Universe.
Thanks,
Sancho
I would recommend each & every person living in this world to read Bhagavad Gita daily, there is no other book or no other book can ever get published in this entire world like the Holy Bhagavad Gita.
ReplyDeleteWe must worship God ,if we do so we will get the blessings of God. We must think of poor people and it is our duty to help them in all possible ways.We should not remain always selfish. Mere worship is not enough.
ReplyDeleteChristian stories are copied from Hindu scriptures...eg: Noha and his boat is copied from Matsya Purana of Hindus...Go through Matsya Purana once and you can find it...
