Are You a Hindu, a Muslim, a Christian, a Buddhist, a Sikh.......etc. etc.??????????
***Pl. note that the below article is about the relation of a human body & one's individual religion that a person believes in. This article is not saying anything about a particular religion, sect etc. prevalent on earth in broader sense.
What is your religion? Are You a Hindu, a Muslim, a Christian, a Sikh, a Buddhist, a Parsi, a Jew??????? For you, the answer can be that, your religion is that of your family religion in which you were born. But is it the correct answer? Let's see how it is different than what you think.
Once I visited a cemetery in Kolkata/Calcutta city in West Bengal state of India. This cemetery is located at one corner of the busy "Park Street" area in the main central city over there. There are many 18th, 19th century graves over there. Graves of many of the ruling class Britishers of those times, their wives, sons, priests etc. are over there. This cemetery is a Christian cemetery & all buried over there were Christians when they were alive, Yes ALIVE. Now after 200-300 years all their bodies might have been turned back into the earthly elements (might have been decomposed) by the microorganisms present in the earth. So now if you even dig them off, you shall not find anything of a human form in those graves. An Idea that used to be a Particular man, woman, child, priest etc. etc. has disappeared in time. The only thing left on those Graves is the embedded name of theirs on those Graves which too shall pass in time one day.
Soul present in those individual bodies escaped at the time of death & after rebirth might have entered into other form/body. So from this becomes very clear that religion is of this body which is not permanent & this body shall completely disappear in time one day or the other. If you are dead, everything is dead for you, whether it's your relations, money, house, religion & whatever is related with your human body. So is the case of one's religion & it perishes in time with the human body.
The above example was of a Christian human being. Same is the case of a Muslim human being & Muslims too bury the dead body & in time those bodies too reach the same end. In the case of a Hindu, bodies are burnt after death & ashes are put into a river. Idea of the body/personality of a person disappears immediately after death. So with the body disappearing, religion of that person too disappears. So is the case with the people of all other religions & with the person of every religion on earth. All people of all religions die at death & lose their religion with their bodies.
So from this it becomes very clear that religion is related to this body, which disappears in time & not of the Soul which is permanent & remains even after death. So if you believe yourself to be a body which has a particular religion, then that body & religion related to that body of yours shall die with the death of that body but if you think yourself to be a SOUL then you shall live beyond this body. But remember, you cannot subscribe any religion to the Soul.
So now you tell me whether you are a Hindu , a Muslim, a Christian, a Sikh, a Buddhist, a Parsi, a Jew??????? In case you think yourself to be of any religion then that religion of yours shall be with you till you have this body on earth. But if you think yourself to be a Soul then you are beyond any religion as SOUL cannot be subscribed any religion.
The above mortality of human body & immortality of Soul is beautifully described all through Bhagwat Gita & here below are few verses related to that:
"dehino-asmin yatha dehe
kaumaram yauvnam jara
tatha dehantar-praptir-
adhiras tatra na muhyati" (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Two verse 13)
"Sri Krishna said: Just as boyhood, youth & old age are attributed to the soul & the embodied soul continuously passes through these cycles, similarly the embodied soul passes into another body at death. The wise man does not get deluded & bewildered with such a change."
"na-asato vidyate bhavo
nabhavo vidyate satah
ubhayor api drsto ’ntas
tv anayos tattva-darshibhih" (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Two verse 16)
"Sri Krishna said: The unreal has no existence, and the real never ceases to be; the reality of both has thus been perceived by the seers of the truth."
"avinasi tu tad viddhi
yena sarvam idam tatam
vinasam avyayasyasya
na kascit kartum arhati" (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Two verse 17)
"Sri Krishna said: Know that to be imperishable & indestructible, by which all this is pervaded; for none can bring about the destruction of this indestructible substance, the imperishable soul."
"antavanta ime deha
nityasyoktah saririnah
anasino ’prameyasya
tasmad yudhyasva bharata" (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Two verse 18)
"Sri Krishna said: All these bodies pertaining to the indestructible, immeasurable and eternal living entity / soul are spoken of as perishable; therefore, fight, Arjuna."
"na jayate mriyate va kadacin
nayam bhutva bhavita va na bhuyah
ajo nityah sasvato ’yam purano
na hanyate hanyamane sarire" (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Two verse 20)
"Sri Krishna said: The soul is never born nor dies at any time. Soul has not come into being, does not come into being, and will not come into being. Soul is unborn, eternal, ever-existing and primeval. Soul is not slain when the body is slain."
"vasamsi jirnani yatha vihaya
navani grhnati naro ’parani
tatha sarirani vihaya jirnany
anyani samyati navani dehi" (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Two verse 22)
"Sri Krishna said: As a human being puts on new garments, giving up old ones, the soul similarly accepts new material bodies, giving up the old and useless ones."
