Nature of Your Soul

Most of us identify ourselves with this body of ours. We see this body of ours in the mirror & feel that this is our real self. We start feeling ourselves as one point body in space & forget to feel the greatness of soul which is sustaining this body of ours & which is all pervading in this universe.

As per Bhagwat Gita, think yourself to be that soul which is beyond this body, which is unthinkable, imperishable, ineffable, eternal, all pervading, immobile, un-manifest & immutable. In fact your nature is also that only which is also called Brahmn.
In fact we are the omnipresent soul inside our body & this soul can never die though body may die. Bhagwat Gita explains this:

“acchedyo-ayam adahyo-ayam
akledyo-asoshya ev ch
nity sarv-gatah sthanur
achalo-ayam sanatanah” (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter II verse 24)

"Sri Krishna said: For this individual soul is incapable of being cut; and insoluble, and can be neither burned nor dried. This soul is eternal, constant, omnipresent, unchangeable, immovable and everlasting."

“dehi nityam avadhyo-ayam
dehe sarvasy bharat
tasmat sarvani bhutani
na tvam shochitum-arhasi” (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter II verse 30)

"Sri Krishna said: O descendant of Bharata, this soul residing in the bodies of all can never be slain. Therefore you should not grieve for any living being."

"athakasa-sthito nityam
vayuh sarvatra-go mahan
tatha sarvani bhutani
mat-sthanity upadharaya" (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Nine verse 6)

"Sri Krishna said: Understand that just as the mighty wind, blowing everywhere, rests always in the sky, so do all created beings rest in Me (Universal Soul)."

The above verses explain the omnipresent & everlasting nature of God or the Universal Soul (one who is present everywhere).
So we should not think our self limited to this body only. We are that omnipresent soul which is appearing to be this perishable body, due to our self relating it with the body. The Omnipresent Soul which is invisible, indivisible & all pervasive in the universe, appears to be taking the shape of a body, when seen in relation to a body. In fact all pervasive, omnipresent soul is beyond the concept of shape, color etc.

Keep God In Mind

Happy Janmastami to You & Your family
Jai Shri Radhe Krishna.
When someone asks you to focus your mind on God, then you feel it difficult to do so, as there are SO MANY distracting things here in this world, and it's so difficult for the mind to reject them. Though we know that and feel that "Concentrating our mind on God is the only way to connect with our true nature and stop suffering" but still things of the world capture our mind & we are unable to divert our mind towards the God. But once we are able to get on to the road of God then we shall be thinking about Him more often. Though It's hard, but it's all the worth for the beauty, peace & happiness that it brings to your life. So just don't think that it is difficult to focus the mind on God, just try & you shall be able to concentrate your mind on God.

We generally have things of the world on our mind. These are our daily affairs, our family etc. which are on our mind most of the times. To have God on our mind or to be God minded, we need to develop love for God & need to understand that our own self (Soul) is a spark of the almighty consciousness. We need to understand that we all are a reflection of the Divine Light called God.

Our mind always wanders outside in this world & always goes about the objects of the senses. Our mind always loves things of this outside world, be it the beautiful scenery, music, scent etc . but does not normally find joy in things or songs related to God. Our mind always believes in visible things of this world & somehow believes with difficulty in someone, who is invisible, just like the God or Soul which is so subtle that it is invisible through our gross human eyes. Our mind rarely goes inside ourself & tries to find joy over there but always hankers in the outside world for the joy.

If we have have devotion to God, He shall always be on your mind. Lord Krishna says in the Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Eight verse 14
"ananya-cetah satatam
yo mam smarati nityasah
tasyaham sulabhah partha
"Lord Sri Krishna says: Whosoever, always & constantly remembers Me with undivided mind; by that person, I am easy to obtain, O Arjuna, because of his constant engagement in the devotional service to Me."

So, let's have devotion towards God & then we shall always have "Peace of Mind". Let's divert the direction of our "Mind" towards the God who is sitting in our heart. It is the promise of the God in Bhagwat Gita that He shall welcome anyone who shall come to Him & He shall always protect that person.

Faith in God Protects You Against Worries & Fears

As per one report:

"Faith in God shields you against worries and helps you tackle life’s uncertainties. As per the report, those who trusted in God were found to have lower levels of worry and more tolerance of uncertainty than those who doubted God’s help."

In "Bhagwat Gita", Lord Krishna Says that if a person is devoted to God only then God rescues that person from all the miseries of life. If you have strong faith in God then God shall keep you away from all harm and shall watch over your life. He shall guard you from every evil & shall protect you always in life. Lord says:
"ye tu sarvani karmani
mayi sannyasya mat-parah
ananyenaiva yogena
mam dhyayanta upasate"
"tesam aham samuddharta
mrityu-samsara-sagarat
bhavami na cirat partha

"Those people, who worship Me by surrendering all their activities unto Me, are always devoted to Me, always meditate upon Me, Having always fixing their minds upon Me, O Parth - to them, I swiftly rescue from the miseries of life & also from the cycle of birth and death i.e always protect that devotee."

"ananyas cintayanto mam
ye janah paryupasate
tesham nityabhiyuktanam
yoga-ksemam vahamy aham" (Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Nine verse 22)

"Sri Krishna said: But those who always worship Me with exclusive devotion, meditating on My transcendental form—to them I provide what they lack, and I protect what they have."
So let's move towards God & always worship Him. By doing this He shall take away all the sufferings & miseries from your life & shall show you the true light. In that way God shall protect you against worries & fears of life

Krishna Bhakti

"Krishna Bhakti" simply means "Devotion to Lord Krishna". One who does such Bhakti or Devotion to the Lord is called a devotee. Lord Krishna is dear to his devotees & they too are dear to Lord Krishna. In such a devotion to Lord, devotees have a burning desire to meet Lord Krishna. Gopis of Vrindavan, including Sri Radharani were such devotees who fell in Love with Lord Krishna.
Sri Radharani was a Gopi who was most near to Lord Krishna’s heart. Sri Radha's devotion and dedication towards Lord Sri Krishna was complete that is the reason that she was most dear to Lord Krishna. Sri Radha was not married to Lord Krishna but still she was most dear to Him even more than His wives. It was because Sri Radha was always full of devotion towards the Lord & never thought of anyone besides Lord Krishna. In pictures Sri Radha is almost always depicted alongside Lord Krishna.
Similarly we too should have devotion or Bhakti towards Lord Krishna.
As per the Bhagwat Gita, devotion is the easiest method to know the truth about self knowledge / soul knowledge & get close to the God. God himself declares about the glory of devotion in Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Eighteen verse 65 & 66 which are here given below.

Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Eighteen verse 65:

"man-mana bhava mad-bhakto
mad-yaji mam namaskuru
mam evaishyasi satyam te

"Sri Krishna says to Arjuna: Always think of Me, become My devotee, worship Me and offer your homage unto Me. Thus you will come to Me without fail. I promise you this because you are My very dear friend."

Bhagwat Gita: Chapter Eighteen verse 66:

"sarva-dharman parityajya
mam ekam saranam vraja
aham tvam sarva-papebhyo

"Sri Krishna says to Arjuna: Abandon all varieties of religion and just surrender unto Me. I shall deliver you from all sinful reactions. Do not fear."

In the above verses of Bhagwat Gita, Lord Krishna is assuring Arjuna that He shall always be with him in all circumstances if he is always in devotion to Him. Same thing applies to every human being also. If a person remains devoted to Lord Krishna then Lord promises that He shall deliver that person of all the sins of the past & purify that person. By doing such loving service to the Lord, certainly that person shall be in the eyes of Lord & Lord shall always protect that person.

So let's be devoted to Lord Krishna always. Let's sing His Glories, read literature regarding Him & also do loving service to humanity (charity etc.) in His name. So lets have devotion to Lord Krishna. Remaining in Krishna consciousness is good for everyone. Krishna is one of the names of God and it means all-attractive. So Praise to such a Lord.

Jai Sri Krishna.
